Lovers/Advisors

Queen Elizabeth’s love life was very difficult to understand and mostly remained quiet. Queen Elizabeth was one of the most powerful rulers of all time. She had a difficult time finding love life when she was a female Queen; if she were to marry the male dominance would overcome her when she led the English. Although she remained unmarried she had a few scandals with people. The most scandalous love affair of all was the one that took place near the beginning of her reign, with Robert Dudley, who father had been Edward VI's. The assumed Robert murdered his wife so he could be with Elizabeth. Elizabeth dumps him because of the controversy. Elizabeth’s was also believed to not have the ability to deliver a baby, between her ugliness and her power her love life was not much of one. Her mother was also against it not allowing her to be around men in a romantic fashion.

Another one of Elizabeth's most known lover is Thomas Seymour. Thomas has first married Catherine Parr (Henry VIII last wife after death). The couple took Elizabeth into their house at Chelsea. There Elizabeth experienced an emotional crisis that changed her life. Thomas at the age of 40, still a fine man engaged in romps and horseplay with 14 year old Elizabeth. This included him going into her room in the night, tickling and slapping her on her buttocks. Once Catherine Parr was aware of the pair in an embrace she sent Elizabeth away in May 1548. Thomas still controlled the royal family after Elizabeth departed. When Catherine died, Thomas brought his intentions back to Elizabeth, and planned on marrying her. In January of 1549 Seymour was arrested on the plot to marrying Elizabeth and the overthrow of his brother. Seymour was then beheaded on March 20, 1549 when Elizabeth was 15 and a half.
